Perth City

Perth City Centre is picture postcard city, positioned along the tranquil waterways of the beautiful Swan River, this runs twenty kilometres inland of the Indian Ocean on the West Coast of Australia.

Perth’s beautiful river and surrounding area provides a spectacular scenic outlook over the Perth city skyline as well as offering a great location for recreational activities and family get gatherings.

Perth was originally located for its safe inland location during early settlement times, while the river provided the best means for transporting supplies from the coastal port to the early day settlements and colonies. Convict labour was used to build much of Perth originally, this is still evident and can be seen witnessed in some of Perth's remaining historic buildings.

The surrounding area of Perth city had significant historical meaning to the Aborigines of the region, according to Aboriginal folklore a large mythical snake known as the Waggyl. This mythical snake slithered its way through the area creating the bends and gully’s which is what shaped the Swan River. During the winter months came the winter rains which filled the empty channel ways with
water, and the river we know today as "The Swan" was alive and flowing.

During a visit to Perth you will find a large variety of fun filled activities especially in Perth's city centre, many of which focus around the picturesque Swan River location. You can enjoy one of the many river cruises which operate along the Swan River, some offering dining and music as an option as you spend a few hours cruising in and out of the city.

For the more serious site seeing is a must you will be able to take in spectacular panoramic views of Perth and the Swan River, visit Kings Park and Botanic gardens whilst taking full advantage of the many lookouts and vantage points available to the public, or you can take advantage of these locations and park recreational areas to enjoy a relaxing picnic.

Walking or cycling your way along the Swan River foreshore on one of the many cycle and walking tracks provided, or take part in water sports or scenic flights is a great way to spend a Sunny day in Perth.

The City Centre of Perth offers something for all especially tourists with great shopping opportunities. Where you souvenir shopping for authentic Aboriginal Art and crafts, the latest fashions, swimming or beach wear, jewellery, digital cameras and high tech gadgets, the vast array of shops available offer an extensive range of choices. Shop till you drop eat till you pop with Shopping malls and department stores, cafes, restaurants and the finest of food halls.

Popular shopping locations include the The Hay St Mall, Murray St Mall, Raine Square, Forest Chase, Barrack St and Kings Street to name a few.
Whilst visiting Perth city it is a must for visitors to visit Perth's main tourists attractions these include the Perth Zoo and the Old Mill, both are just a short ferry ride from the city. as Barracks Arch and Kings Park are must see attractions as well both of which are located just on the edge of the Perth city centre, and are easily accessible by public transport.
